Barkley Sound Day 1 – The Packing

Today we packed, and packed, and packed, and then stored, and stored, and stored all that packed stuff into hidden spots on the boat.  We have enough food for several months I think.  It’s under the floor, in all the cupboards, the port-side lazarette, under the cockpit table, and of course filling the fridge and freezer.   Devon’s dad helped us get the propane tanks refilled as well which is great since this is the first time in two years they’ve been refilled.  Tonight we are still at the dock because we were just too tired to battle the bridges and locks between Lake Washington and Puget Sound after getting everything and everyone to the boat.   We cut a family size Papa Murphy’s pizza into 3rds and baked it in the oven on the boat, which turned out great, and of course we watched Captain Ron to prepare for our trip.  Tomorrow we’ll fill the water tanks in the morning and head out through the ship canal, then probably make a stop for fuel at Shilshole before we head north toward Juan de Fuca Strait.  I think this is the first boat trip where I managed to shower the day we got on the boat, so that’s something.

  • Canada Fishing licenses – Check!
  • Crab Pots – Check!
  • Prawn Pot – Check!
  • Salmon Rods – Check!
  • Bait and Tackle – Check!
  • Charts – Check!
  • Holding Tanks Emptied – Check!
  • Olivia’s pink bunny..  hmm, where is that?  Crap!

And apparently we have too much wine for our border crossing, we’ll have to decide how to handle that tomorrow.

  • Sounds like you’re really organized. Hope you found the bunny. Have fun!

    • No, it didn’t make it to the boat.. But Morgan is letting Olivia sleep with her Elsa doll since she also has her Christmas bear.
