  • Do you have a wiring diagram for the Balmar alternator, Balmar 612 Regulator and Cristec Splitter please?

  • Hi. We have a 42SO DS that we plan to cruise around the NA and SA coasts, as well as the Caribbean. We are debating an arch for our dinghy, solar, antenas, and wind generator, or pulpit mounted David’s and an outboard engine lift. I see you use davits and a lift. Any thoughts to share based on your experience

    • Sorry I haven’t replied to this before.. We love our davits and motor lift. I’ve seen a few similar boats with an arch that has the davits and motor lift integrated into the arch design. We had to reinforce the davits because there was too much flex when the boat dropped down into a wave trough and then came back up, the weight of the dinghy would pull down (especially if we left the motor on) and put the stern rail back, and flex the fiberglass. We had stainless tubing welded up from the transom pushing forward on the rail and davit. It doesn’t flex at all now and we sailed down the Pacific West Coast in 25-35kts, 6-12ft seas with the dinghy on davits with no issues. When we are in heavier seas on passages longer than a few hours we take the motor off the dinghy and put it on it’s mount on the stern rail. We have a lift on our satdome pole for the motor. Again, you could integrate all of this into an arch system.
