Update from the sea 8, Family reunion..

Cruise Ship leaving Seattle through the Puget Sound Shipping Lanes

Tonight we are on a mooring buoy at Coupeville on Whidbey Island.  We got here about 1PM and were greeted by Devon’s and Steve’s parents.  We left James Island at 7:30am and made good time down through Rosario Strait.   Deception Pass was uneventful as was the rest of the trip.

We made it to Coupeville and tied to mooring buoy then took the dinghy over to the wharf to meet everyone.  Lunch was fried foods, ice cream, and soda.  We visited aunt Cindy’s shop again too.

Kiley was there for Dawn and Nessa was there for us and while we we hanging out by the shop, Kiley was stung by a bee. She was crying for hours after that.

George, Devon, Nessa, and I went to Cindy’s house for dinner.  Cindy’s home is on the west side of Whidbey and has a great view of the Puget Sound shipping lanes.  We brought flank steak from the boat to BarBQ which was great.

The winds were really whipping through during the night but our mooring line held up just fine.

Sunday we head home to Everett with George and Nessa.  Dawn and Steve are off the boat and back with Kiley.

PS.. If you are going to James Island, try to get one of the outer two buoys, the inner one rocked the boat a lot as ferry’s went up and down the channel while the boats on the outer buoys seemed calmer.

PPS.. Also, there is a submerged buoy between the middle and north buoy’s at James Island that is only visible at low tide, be careful you don’t hit it.

UPDATE: I reported the submerged buoy to Washington State Parks after this trip and they have since repaired it.
