The sailing season cometh..

Well it’s March now and time to start thinking about sailing! Actually I’ve been thinking about it for a while already.

So we’ve begun to plan the big trip of the year. In late July/early August Sleipnir will be making an approximately 18 day voyage from Everett, WA up to Desolation Sound, BC and back. The details are still being decided but so far we will be sending the boat up to BC with Devon’s parents and possibly 2 others. Then we’ll be flying up to meet them, they’ll fly back and we’ll command Sleipnir back down to Everett. Of course there will be several days of exploration in Desolation sound for both parties.

In preparation, we have picked up all the necessary nautical charts for the area. I also got a tide table book and a book all about boat maintenance.

Soon, we’ll be hauling the boat to install the new propeller, paint the bottom, and remove the mast for inspection. I’ll also be working on the electrical systems to make sure they are up to snuff for a long voyage.
