First Sailing Trip – Day 6 – Cleanup Crew
Adrienne has a phone interview later today and we’d all like some time to relax, clean up, and explore so we’ve decided to stay another night at Roche. This is the first time we’ve stayed in one place more than one night and it’s nice!! We took showers, got coffee and wandered about.
Devon and I walked to the only Marine Store on this side of the island to buy new Fuel drip pads for under the engine, a spare key for the Yamaha outboard in case we drop it overboard, a padlock for the Yamaha so no one steals it when we aren’t looking, and a sanding block to work on the boat’s teak.
Back at the boat we replaced the fuel pads under the engine which was definitely needed. Apparently we were leaking quite a bit of fuel so the old pads were very heavy. We BBQ’d hot dogs and ate some fries Adrienne bought at the café on the dock. Devon and I walked all over the trails behind the marina to see the Limestone quarry that used to be here. We did some much needed laundry and I bought a LB of nice big prawns from a fisherman who catches them and sells them at the dock every day. We BBQ’d the prawns which were awesome and later we spent an hour or so re-organizing the entire boat to make things easier to get to. Then we had very good Asian chicken wraps for the full dinner. After that it was whiskey and cokes, chatting with the other boaters and bed time.
