Update from the sea 2, Lessons in anchoring..
This morning we woke up early, at least two of us are sick.. I woke at
5am and went topside for a while. The winds were moderate but really
warm. We fired up the engine at 9:15am and headed for Deception Pass
along with about 4 other boats who were anchored near us.
After clearing Deception Pass we made way north towards Decatur Island,
we got a little sailing in at first but eventually lost the wind. It
was raining pretty good the whole day. We tied up to a mooring buoy on
the north side of Spencer Spit on Lopez Island.
Lunch was leftover steak chunks in beef flavored Top Ramen–very good
There was a moment of concern when a 70 foot motor-yacht anchored barely 70
feet from us, but they finally realized their mistake and left.
We BarBQ’d chicken and corn on the cob for dinner and took some pictures
of the beautiful sunset, low cloud layers, and a full 360 degree
rainbow.
Tomorrow we’ll attempt to make port at Rosario Resort on Orcas Island.
We need more ice and some meds for the sick ones.
—Correction from last nights update… It wasn’t Hart island, it was
Hope island, also known as Skagit Island State Park.
More tomorrow.
