About Us
This project is so new that I haven’t even had a chance to write our first post yet! But, we’re at the very beginning – within the first few days – of a very long journey. This is a journey that we expect will consume at least the next six years of our lives. So, we practice patience in all things, while maintaining diligent progress toward our goal.
In October 2013, two bottles of wine changed our lives. We were going cruising. For a year. It would take at least five years to prepare. Follow our journey from its meager beginnings.
We’re a family of 4. Mama grew up sailing the Northwest for a week or so each summer, but hasn’t sailed for years. Dad just picked up sailing in the last few years at Mama’s not-so-gentle nudging. Then we had our first baby girl, and our sad-yet-loved 1975 Cal 2-29 was sacrificed. Baby Girl #2 came along two years later, and we hadn’t thought about sailing much in the meantime.
Over the last two summers, Dad took up Dinghy sailing (Lasers and FJs) on the lake which has turned out to be really fun, and it’s definitely building better sailing skills.
In October 2013, two bottles of wine changed our lives. With the help of some fabulous chardonnay, the truth finally flowed between two dedicated lovers and life partners. We both harbored a secret desire to leave “the grind” and sail the world. Once that was out in the open, the adventure began… We were going cruising. For a year. It would take at least five years to prepare. Follow our journey from its meager beginnings.
Who Are the Andersons?
Well, there’s the rub. We haven’t yet told our families about this little project. We haven’t even told our girls. And we certainly haven’t told our employers. So for now, we’re Mama, Dad, BigGirl, and BabyGirl. In this journey, under the cover of anonymity, you, our reader, will be the first to truly know us. There’s joy in the paradox, and excitement in the fact that we’ll all know each other so much better soon.
