Update from the sea 6, Day of repairs..
Well we made it to Roche Harbor today. We left Telegraph at 7am and powered through some serious headwinds with larger than normal waves, arriving at Roche Harbor at about 2PM.
Roche is what it is…large and loud… The customs dock was crazy and when we finally got an open spot another boat challenged us… In the end when I gave up to let them take the spot, i broke the flex coupler on the prop shaft, again, and had to take the spot due to lack of control. I think we now know why it breaks though; from switching too quickly between forward and reverse.
Since I had the spare coupler, Steve replaced it while I checked in with customs, I said hi to Devon’s boss who was also at the customs dock on their chartered boat, then we moved to our slip for the night.
While the girls showered, Steve and I polished off the remaining Captain Morgan, and cleaned the boat up from the repairs mess. I also tested the bilge pump wiring and found that the existing boat wires we’re wired in reverse polarity. After switching the wires, the automatic pump actually pumps automatically now.
After that the guys showered and then we all went to dinner at McMillan’s. At Roche Harbor in the summer each night they perform a flag ceremony and announce special occasions for guests. I had them announce Dawn and Steve’s 3rd anniversary which they seemed to get a kick out of.
Tonight we are sleeping well, hopefully, and tomorrow we’ll head to James Island next to Decatur Island. But not without coffee!!
